Saggar Fired Ceramic Bauble
Ceramic Christmas bauble. These ceramic baubles have been thrown on a potter's wheel from white stoneware clay. Each bauble is then covered in porcelain slip and burnished to create a shiny surface before being bisque fired in a kiln. After this first firing each bauble is then fired again in a saggar firing - where each bauble is placed in an individual protective container with various oxides and combustibles (such as seaweed and sawdust) to create the striking surface effects. The nature of saggar firing means that each bauble is completely unique.
A beautiful and unique piece to hang on a Christmas tree, or stunning as a decorative ornament.
